Irby Trial Delayed, Jackson MS

This is going to be a hot button due to "who" these people are. Everyone has their opinion on this so speak up!

  1. I have really grown sick of reading the whining and complaining about the Irby case. Grow up and open your eyes; people are killed everyday by drunk or impaired drivers and guess what most of these people serve very little time in jail; it isn't about who you are or how much money you have it is about how sympathetic a lawyer can make you seem to a jury. Hello, people kill people in cold blood everyday (not in a reckless car wreck)and serve little or no time at all. An NFL football player will serve 30 days in jail and two years of house arrest after killing a man in a drunk driving accident in Florida...how is this fair? A friend of mine was murdered by her boyfriend who stabbed her thirty times in front of her sister and child--his punishment a year in jail--he had a public defender. Realize that there are so many more important things that YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY CHANGE SOMETHING IF YOU GET UP OFF YOUR BUTT INSTEAD OF COMPLAING ABOUT THE UNFAIRNESS OF ONE SITUATION; THE ONLY THING THAT ACTUALLY GETS SOMETHING DONE IS ACTION. JUST REMEMBER THAT QUITE A FEW OF YOU WHO ARE JUDGING THE SITUATION HAVE DRIVEN AFTER DRINKING YOURSELVES AND THAT SITUATION COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN YOURS. JOIN MADD AND HELP KEEP THE SITUATION FROM HAPPENING AGAIN----TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THAT DRINKING AND DRIVING IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE.

  4. MADD isn't necessarily involved in this case as support for the group has dwindled over the years as more self-righteous people continue to believe that it is okay to "know your limit" and dont want to lend support to an organization that tries to teach people the actions have consequences therefore destructive decisions should be avoided not made. I drink responsibly--whenever I elect to drink I do not drive nor do I ride with someone who has, but so many others have a large amount of alcohol and believe they are okay to drive. Everyone who comments at the Clarion Ledger website seems to want to act as if they are perfect people who have never done wrong but lets face it most people who condemn others for a behavior are usually guilty of the same thing but just haven't caused a wreck yet.
